Safe Water Carbon Credits
Reduce Emissions and Improve Health
In many parts of Togo, families rely on boiling water over open fires to make it safe to drink. This daily routine consumes vast amounts of firewood and releases avoidable greenhouse gas emissions — all while exposing women and children to harmful indoor smoke.
By rehabilitating broken boreholes and restoring access to clean groundwater, we remove the need to boil water — cutting emissions, improving health, and giving time back to the women who shoulder this burden every day.
In 2024, we began rehabilitating broken boreholes across rural Togo - not just as a clean water solution, but as a catalyst for community resilience. Every working borehole is one more step toward cleaner air, safer water, and stronger futures.
Local technicians are trained and employed to restore access to safe groundwater, working closely with village leaders and water committees to ensure each repair meets real community needs.
Every borehole tells a bigger story: of emissions avoided, of girls returning to school, of children and mothers breathing easier.
By restoring infrastructure and supporting community-led management, the Safe Water project becomes more than a carbon solution — it becomes a foundation for health, time, and community development. A place where climate action is not only effective, but equitable.
