Cookstove Carbon Credits

Reduce Emissions and Empower Women

Our cookstove project in Togo is a powerful example of Beyond Net Zero in action — reducing emissions at scale while delivering real benefits to frontline communities.

Replacing traditional open fires with fuel-efficient cookstoves cuts wood use by over 50%, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation.

These cleaner stoves also lower indoor air pollution, improving the health and wellbeing of women and children.

But the impact goes deeper than carbon.

By reducing the time and labour needed to collect firewood, women gain hours back each day — time they can reinvest in education, farming, or small businesses.

In 2023, in a small rural town in Togo, we opened the doors to our very own cookstove workshop — a space built not just for production, but for empowerment. Here, local teams are trained to manufacture clean, safe, and fuel-efficient cookstoves, which are then delivered directly to the communities that need them most.

Every stove tells a bigger story: of women gaining back hours in their day, of trees left standing, of health improved.

By employing local people, sourcing materials nearby, and distributing through community networks, the workshop is more than a factory — it's a hub of regeneration. A place where climate solutions are not just imported, but owned, shaped, and sustained by the people driving them.

Each stove is produced and distributed through community networks, ensuring the benefits stay local and support long-term resilience.

Why It Matters

Whether you're a company aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) or a purpose-driven brand seeking meaningful impact, this project offers a powerful way to support Beyond Value Chain Mitigation — funding emissions reductions beyond your own operations while advancing equity and regeneration.

Your impact:

  • Up to 2 tonnes CO₂e avoided per stove per year

  • Improve health by reducing household air pollution

  • Protect forests by lowering firewood demand

  • Empower women through time savings, training, and income

  • Strengthen local economies through community-led production and distribution

In addition to helping offset emissions, your purchase supports 8 Sustainable Development Goals.

All 8 SDGs have been verified with SDVista and have ongoing monitoring plans.

Certified for Impact

This project is certified under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard (SD VISta) — ensuring every tonne is measurable, additional, and permanent.
